Domestic violence is no longer an internal conflict within the family
On March 19th, the defendant Zhang physically assaulted and threatened his ex-wife, repeatedly violating the personal safety protection order. The People's Court of Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, sentenced Zhang to eight months in prison for refusing to execute a ruling in the first instance. This is also the first case in the country where a person was sentenced by a court for refusing to execute a ruling for violating a personal safety protection order.
Through this judgment, it is clear to society that domestic violence is not a household matter, nor is it a family dispute, and personal safety protection orders are not just empty words. Any behavior that violates the law will be severely punished by the law.
A personal safety protection order is a barrier in front of the victim, and any violation of the order is subject to criminal punishment. We hope to send a strong signal that the perpetrator knows that violating a personal safety protection order is a challenge to legal authority and will have a negative impact on their children and other family members, which should not be underestimated.
